Mississippi
Bandmasters Association Website!
The MBA is the premiere band
organization in our State and is governed by the Mississippi High School
Activities Association. The goal of the Association is to provide
outstanding educational and performance events and venues that
encourage, recognize, and reward musical artistry and excellence.
Consisting of directors at all grade levels throughout the state, the
membership focuses on promoting music education through participation as
well as performance. We strongly believe that band and instrumental
music education are essential components of the school curriculum.
The Mississippi Bandmasters
Association is involved in establishing guidelines for all band events,
and ensuring that the guidelines are followed. In doing so, the
Association helps to sponsor many events throughout the year. The state
convention is held the second weekend in December each year in Tupelo.
This convention, known as “State Band Clinic” is attended by over four
hundred students, three hundred band directors, as well as many
exhibitors, performing ensembles, clinicians, and sponsors. The
directors are also afforded opportunities for in-service growth through
clinics.
Please feel welcome to correspond
with the MBA concerning any ideas or concerns as they relate to making
the bands better in our great state. It is our desire to work together
to promote a lifelong love of music among students, parents, teachers,
and the community as a whole.
